| More Info About ASB...Career ObjectivesCurrently, I'm providing consulting services via BrainWave Consulting. In the short-term, I'm looking at Designing, Deploying and Maintaining networks for small to mid-sized organizations, making use of Microsoft technologies (2000/2003, IIS5/6, SQL2000, Exchange) to provide cost-effective business enhancing solutions. I am interested in management opportunities, with at least a 50% Hands-On component. Presently, I have no desire or intention to move too far away from the technology. Over the years, I've built up a Knowledgebase primarily based on common Windows issues... To access my Online Resume, please
Employment ConsiderationsI believe in organization and hierarchy. Chaos and rampant uncertainty should never pervade the business environment. Thus, I prefer to associate myself with companies that have clear and logical goals, and approach them with some sort of diligence. There will always be the occasional ridiculous deadline, that should never be the norm... Good management is so hard to find... :) In general, I like to be a part of an organization that is serious about Training its employees, and allows me to have a positive influence on the success of the business. An environment that fosters creativity AND planning, helps keep me on track with attaining my long-term goals. Let's just put it this way: the work I do at WORK had better be considerably more challenging than the work I do at HOME. My focus is more on providing leadership, and having an opportunity to develop real, cutting edge solutions in a growing environment. I am driven by Network Architecture & Design, the creation of eCommerce solutions, the creation and implementation of System & Network policies, and process automation in general. Finally, I consider the following items to be extremely important criteria when considering any employment opportunity: Essentials:
Extras:
Personal InterestsMy interests are vast, and span several different categories. I am primarily interested in computers, mostly in administration, but with a little programming on the side. I recently upgraded my workstation to an AMD 1800+ w/512MB of RAM and a GF4 Ti4200, for a truly great gaming experience! I also enjoy Reading, Strategy Games (including, but not limited to Chess and Stratego), Science, and Psychology. At the end of 1998, I purchased a pretty nice telescope, which I've wanted to do for years now, and I hope to get some clear looks at the night sky in the near future. Recently, as part of my ventures with hosting Mailing Lists, I've become involved with NetworkSanity.com®. We are a group of business minded Techies who refuse to settle for mediocrity. We believe in technical excellence, and our motto is: "Bringing Sanity To An Insane Business World..."I've now been admitted into the ranks of the Private Club of MaximumPC, a group of techies (see a theme here?) dedicated to providing enlightenment on the various Delphi technical forums.
Here's a deeper look into some of my recreational activities: ReadingIn particular, I enjoy Science Fiction / Fantasy novels by Robert Heinlein, Piers Anthony, Stephen R. Donaldson, Terry Brooks, Terry Goodkind, Raymond Feist, and David Eddings, among others. I also love Comics such as The Far Side, Calvin & Hobbes, and Dilbert.
BasketballI used to watch and play basketball, but more and more, I seem to be watching, NOT playing. Eventually, I'll find a gym around here that I can become a member of, but until then, I will enjoy watching old clips of Michael Jordan.Basketball will never be the same again! My votes for awesome players of the future go to Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter and Tim Duncan, but I believe that the next ultra-awesome Basketball Player will come from the women's ranks.
Computer RPGsI was never really much into AD&D and other non-computer-based role-playing games, but I sure enjoyed Ultima, Bard's Tale, Wizardry, Might & Magic, and Diablo. Even though Diablo isn't a real RPG, it has enough of the essential elements of good gameplay, and the ability to seamlessly team up with others over the Internet is outstanding. Here are the games I'm currently enjoying as of May 2003:
Games I can't wait for:
The game I've had the most fun with recently is Freelancer. Compelling story and the multiplayer mode is quite addictive. As a result, I'm running my own server.
Here are some really cool sayings that I have heard, read or said (yes, I occasionally say some cool things). At this point, I'm not taking any pains to establish the actual authors, but I may, at some later date, decide to do so... If you have any contributions for this section, please provide some
